Leadership Training

The DOERR Institute at Rice University (https://doerr.rice.edu/) provides professional-quality leader development for Rice’s students and personnel, that is driven by evidence-based approaches and results in measurable impacts. As a large-scale leader development enterprise at Rice, the DOERR Institute is committed to the early development of leadership abilities in young people, which contrasts with other programs that are focused on experienced students in leader roles. Specifically, students can choose from a variety of workshops (in-person) focused on single leadership competency. Topics covered in 2021 include embracing conflict, launching a team, delegating effectively, decision making, and active listening. Each module is a 4-hour commitment, imparted in 2 hours sessions, two weeks apart (evenings from 5-7 pm). Students can choose to participate in up to 4 modules.
