NSF Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) Summer Program
 

Program Information

Leveraging the world-class resources at Rice, activities during the summer will include (1) high-quality research in Chemical Nanoscience and Nanotechnology in world-class laboratories at Rice (detailed in section B.3), a tier-1 research institution with prolific and prominent scientists in nanoscale sciences; (2) professional leadership training in collaboration with the DOERR Institute for New Leaders; (3) professional development activities in partnership with the Rice Center for Career Development (CCD) and the Rice Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (OGPS); and, (4) scientific literacy activities organized by Martí and Gilbertson. The participants will culminate the REU summer experience presenting a poster at the Summer Undergraduate Research Symposium, that brings together the participants from all REU programs at Rice University. In addition, all REU participants will deliver an oral presentation at the Gulf Coast Undergraduate Research Symposium (GCURS) in the fall semester (with expenses paid by the grant), and students will participate in the Graduate School Symposium (online) during the spring semester, both organized by Martí and Gilbertson.

Participants will receive a $6000 stipend, travel support, and a housing subsidy for those who will live on campus (shared room).

* Students can participate in up to four modules of Leadership Training, although they can choose to participate in less. Group Meetings with the PI team will occur every week.
